Fosforos El Mono Matches Poster

by anonymous

1935 Smoking monkey lighting matches.

With books of matches given away free at cash registers and used as advertising vehicles at every restaurant today, we have to remind ourselves that, until recently, Europeans and South Americans often had to pay for them. No price is mentioned here, but the clear implication is that if a chimp can purchase Monocle brand matches, the best non-poisonous light on the market, then your everyday puffer most certainly could afford it. And though one cant argue that its convenient possessing an opposable thumb, its hart to slight a spokesmonkey who can light two matches with his feet, properly display product and still manage to point to the name of the matches in question.
